Why go
- The temple is maintained by the Border Security Force (BSF) and houses unexploded bombs dropped during the 1965 war, which failed to detonate by the temple’s grace.
- The Longewala post showcases real captured tanks, vehicles, and a war museum from the legendary 1971 Battle of Longewala, which was fought on these very sand dunes.
Before you go
Good to know
- It is a full-day trip from the camp. You will drive through empty desert highways lined with sand drifts, which is a spectacular drive in itself.
- Bring original government ID cards, as the area is close to the international border and subject to security checkposts.
